Just weighed it with my wife's kitchen scale and it's coming up at 210 grams, which isn't as heavy as something like the remote from the NAD M33, but it's still way more than the 20 gram plastic toy that I expected.

Edit: Well, after looking at some images online of the Hugo 2 remote, I can confirm that mine doesn't look like that at all. It's full metal and tapered in the middle. I will add a picture of mine later.

I will have to report on it in a few hours when I'm able to get back home. I've currently switched over to the EE Odins, but I will comment on the Andros when I can.

Guys what are you talking about? The remote is fine, but by no means heavy!

Take a look at the picture I posted above. Either I was sent the wrong remote or this is some kind of new on-the-go self-defense revision

That's not what my one looks like. Take a look a few posts back.

I've tried going through the product manuals for the other Chord devices that use remotes. None of them seem to match. I have no idea what remote I received, but it doesn't seem to be made for the Hugo 2. It weighs nearly as much as the Hugo 2 as well. It does, however, work for the most part. I've only tried powering the device on and changing volume. Didn't think to try the other buttons in my haste to get out the door.

The shape is different, yes but the function buttons match

A few of the buttons don't match, unfortunately. There is no Optical 2 or BNC connections on the Hugo 2 - and so those buttons do nothing. Power On, Volume, USB, Optical 1, and Bluetooth work. As does the filter adjustment. Nothing else does though - and the volume seems to go up a few ticks for every press. As much as it pains me, I'm going to reach out and see if I can get the proper remote that should have been in the box. I am still curious to know which one I got as it doesn't seem to match the remotes for devices with the requisite digital inputs, like the TT2.

As far as initial testing goes, my Odins are just heavenly. An incredible pairing. Listening with the PWAudio RCA->4.4 adapter. Almost no noise floor. If I really focus, and there's no other ambient noise, I can barely make it out.

My Andromeda 2020's definitely have a discernible hiss. It's not overly present like I've experienced in my Mojo 2 - which has also lead me to believe that there might be something off with my Mojo 2. I've already started a warranty repair for it through the US distro.

I'm going to be picking up new headphones in a few months too, but I'm casting my net pretty wide. Going to see if I can demo Utopias, a few from Abyss, DCA Stealths, and perhaps something from Final. If I can get myself back up to NYC in February, I might try to attend Canjam.

Here's a picture of the remote before I head out. Sadly, I'm beginning to think that this is the wrong unit as the Hugo 2 doesn't have BNC or a second optical input. Will try it later to see if it works. Hopefully it works just as well though.

This doesn't look correct

Does anyone know the output voltage at various levels, I'm trying to get to 1V but I don't know at what color that is. I am using RCA --> Feliks Envy. What color is 1V out on RCA?

I have the same remote as in your picture. I had to RMA my first Hugo 2 out of the box, and I just got the replacement last Thursday. I never looked at the remote with the original Hugo 2, but the replacement came with the "new" remote. I just got around to looking at the remote today and it was much nicer than what I was expecting. I then found your post.

Note that BNC1 and BNC2 on my remote changes the selected input on the Hugo 2. It's the same as COAX1 and COAX2. This is for the 3.5mm coax input on the Hugo 2. The only button that doesn't do anything is OPT2 like you pointed out. Also interesting is that EQ maps to FILTER.

Like you, I'm curious if we got the correct remote.

just my opinion, but over the years, some owners have criticised the hugo2, tt2 and dave remotes as being too cheap and plastic, and asked that chord returns to the initial metallic style of remote supplied with the first daves.
maybe chord has now adopted this policy.

I reached out to Chord, but haven't heard back yet. Might try Moon Audio as they are the distributer I purchased from.

I also had more time to try the remote, and I realized that the other input buttons were working. I just wasn't aiming the remote properly, I suppose. I still find that the volume buttons adjust by two steps rather than one, which seems like a minor problem, but can be annoying if I know that the volume I want it right in between.

I think I've decided to keep the remote. If I really feel like I'm missing out on some portable remote-using usage, I'll just buy the plasticky one later. This metal one is just too nice.

I really hope so. I've never used the other remotes, but they do look quite cheap in comparison to the hardware they control. Now, if they could make a metal remote with glowing balls that somehow mirror the balls on the device (H2,TT2, etc.)? Take my money.

I was reading through Rob's posts in this thread and came across his description of how a remote should interact with the Hugo 2. My "new" model remote works as he describes. I do have to press the volume buttons on the remote very quickly to only register one step.

Rob Watts said:

But using the volume wheel does not give you a click down; and like mogo, it has two colours - one side of the wheel is lit by one LED, the other side by another. And same colour is for two steps.

So if you wish to click down step by step, then just one click the volume on the remote; but keeping the remote depressed will set a constant change.
